Anger

Recognising that you have a problem with anger management can be difficult. You may feel that you just have a ‘short fuse’ and it’s just the way you are. Or, you may wonder why you feel so angry. Everyone is different and will have their own triggers. You may feel frustrated, or that you are being treated unfairly. But, if you are reading this, your anger has probably been worrying you, or someone in your life has said that they cannot cope with it. The bottom line is – it’s the way you have been reacting to certain situations and the good news is that you really can learn to behave differently if you want to!

With the combination of psychotherapy and hypnotherapy you will work to change your negative thought processes. This will be through a process of relaxation, suggestions and learning more about why you react in the way that you do. Quite often, we become more angry when we are suffering with high levels of stress and anxiety and so you will address these issues at the same time. In this way you will learn to feel calmer in stressful situations and this will help you to think more clearly so that you can act in an appropriate way. If you want to know how I can help you to understand your anger and start to feel calmer quickly, get in touch.

Self help for anger:

  • Give yourself time when you start to feel angry – take some deep breaths (in through your nose for a count of 4 and out through the mouth for a count of 7); if nothing else, just count to 10, distract yourself (ideally by doing something physical like running up stairs or jumping up and down if either of these are possible)!
  • Be assertive, rather than aggressive or angry – explain why you are not happy, speak slowly and clearly and use phrases like ‘I think’ or ‘I feel’ – rather than attack the other person. Do not make demands, but say ‘I might feel better if …’
  • Plan difficult conversations – make notes about what you plan to say and stick to them.

Relationships

Even the happiest couples experience relationship slumps at some point. So how do you keep things from going from bad to worse? There are many problems that may surface in relationships that feel confusing. Perhaps your feelings are being hurt or you are hurting the feelings of other people and are not sure why. By focusing on yourself, hypnotherapy helps you to gain confidence, improve your self-esteem, self-worth and become the ‘real you’. In this way, you will be able to build more open, honest and positive relationships with others. If you want to know how I can help you to feel better, get in touch.
